Degree Objective: MSW
I'm ex-military personnel with an undergraduate degree in social work and would like to advance my studies on a postgraduate degree at Walden University. I have done research and heard wonderful feedback from friend and relatives who have taken the online Masters in Social Work Program at Walden University. After receiving the degree, my plans will be to continue working with the Department of Children and Family Services while seeking a promotion with my Master's Degree once awarded.
When I was in the military, I was on a humanitarian tour helping refugee children with basic needs and helping find shelter overseas. While at it, I felt good about what I was doing and felt that social work is a calling for me, this gave me an urge to enroll for the postgraduate course in social work to advance, my professional skills in serving people.
I have an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work concentration on child welfare from Northwestern State University, Louisiana where I managed a GPA of 3.111. My degree has given me a cutting edge in applying logical reasoning within the professional context of social work in practice, assessing the effect of social policies on agencies and clients. I have also acquired communication skills used on the diversity of clients. In my field of work, I have worked as a petroleum supply specialist in a supervisor position for 20 years while I was in the US army, although this is quite inconsistent with my academic skills, I still applied my social work skills while dealing with my juniors and colleagues. I was responsible for the mentorship of the stuff and cared for their wellbeing as well.
