Free Lab reports for catalase effect of enzyme concentration lab Dissertation Example

Professor's name Student's name Course Date Lab reports for catalase effect of enzyme concentration lab Objectives The objectives of this experiment are Use a computer and a gas pressure sensor to measure hydrogen peroxide to regulate the production of oxygen gas as hydrogen peroxide is destroyed by enzyme catalase at various enzyme concentrations. Measure and compare the initial rates of reactions for these enzymes when different concentrations of enzymes are used. Null hypothesis The rate of enzyme reaction activity will not be influenced by the concertation of the enzyme. Literature review Enzymes are proteins which bring about chemical reactions. They are the catalyst within living organisms, and they help regulate chemical reactions. Enzymes range in the functions in the body of a living organism. Catalase is an enzyme which is found in almost all the existing organism exposed to oxygen. This enzyme helps to catalyze the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to oxygen and water. This enzyme is very significant since it protects the cells from oxidative damage by reactive oxygen species. Catalase has one of the highest turnover numbers since one molecule of catalase can change millions of hydrogen peroxide to oxygen and water in seconds (Feinstein 136). Enzymes are essential for the breakdown, proteins, lipids carbohydrates and other and other molecules. There is three type of enzymes; this is metabolic enzymes, food enzymes, and metabolic enzymes. In a chemical reaction catalyst always act as the catalyst and are not still used up in a chemical reaction. There are many types of enzymes, and the function of the enzyme is determined by the amino acids which make the protein. Without the presence of enzymes, the reaction will not take too far long to be carried out. They can speed up the response; this is by lowering the activation energy this is the energy which is required to break the bond of reactants. For every reaction, molecules must abso...
